Nutrition

Nutrition means everything!

If this page was just one sentence that would be it. However I don’t think you’d take away much from that because the concept of nutrition and the implications it has on our lives is epic, and often overwhelming. I know because I have been, and will be again, right where you are. Having a compromised system, genetic mutations, chronic fatigue means that I don’t get to be 100% all of the time. But nutrition, great nutrition, allows me to live the life I love. Fit, happy, driven and purpose-filled. All because of my knowledge as a holistic practitioner with a basis in nutrition, and a lifetime of experience.

Start with Nourishment

There are four levels in what I call my Nourish Protocol which include Remove, Reset, Reclaim and Recover. Some of you may be to reach maintenance and just sit in the Recover level and live happily ever after. However for me there is a continued Rebound and Reflection that happens all of the time, and I am always Redesigning my personal goals and which level I need to be in for the best me possible. Going on a vacation, having family or friends in town can cause a crash in my  system. Getting too active can cause a crash. Eating too many foods from the not-friendly list again can cause a crash in my system. That’s why I developed this system to turn to, evaluate myself and set a course for wellness.

Wellness can be confusing, and there is a lot of information out there. What works for one person may not work for you. Keto works well for many, but if you throw in some inflammation and glandular issues and you’ll gain 10 pounds super quickly. Again, I have all of that personal experience and life exploration behind me. Start working on a thyroid support program without healing your adrenals and you could end up with anxiety, gaining weight, edema, and more. I have been there, and I quickly changed my course.

Remove allows you to start where we really all should. Eliminate the foods that are most often poorly digested, or highly allergic. Followed by a program that is meant to:

  • Help the body remove heavy metals and toxins*
  • Support a healthy immune system*
  • Help balance the body’s pH, considered essential for good health*
  • Support natural energy processes*

Most toxins are in your cells, and so we start at a cellular level of cleansing, and then add support for the digestive system in order to start waking up feeling refreshed, with clear focus and energy to sustain you throughout your day. Remove means we detox and bring your body back into balance.

Reset is where we address the nutritional needs of the body. We continue with the eliminated foods (which really should be out of your dietary system for at least six months) and start to move into nourishment. Through supplementation and whole foods you’ll find some answers. I created Paleo Vegeo so many years ago when I was hated for saying that you could be vegan and paleo at the same time. It’s now a movement with thousands of fans! Paleo Vegeo means that you learn into veganism, vegetarianism or pescatarianism but you are solidly focused on the veg. Dr. Hyman calls it Pegan now, which is pretty catchy. However you still need to consider things like autoimmune, allergies, and your own nutritional truth. That is what I am all about.

So when you Reset we keep using the daily detox but add in nourishing whole food capsules, either the big guns or the little guns, or for those that just one simple and methylated (and very affordable) option we have the multi. I recommend we focus in on really getting lots of easy to digest and absorb nutrition during this phase as we jump into really moving nutrition into the body to get everything working the way it was meant to move. I don’t do any crazy macro nutrient diets here because they can all too easily impact your overall underlying issues while you are nourishing your body. So no super low carb, high protein, high fat, low fat, etc. Just balanced and clean, with eliminated toxic and inflammatory foods.

When we Reclaim we start moving into more of that good happy microbiome food and support to build up all the little joyful bugs that your overly toxic inner world may have lost. The good guys in, and they can take a stand against any major bad boys remaining. Providing your body with a regular source of “friendly” bacteria is essential. There was a time when you could get healthy bacteria through foods but today most foods are so overly processed and pasteurized that the healthy microbiome isn’t even vital by the time you ingest them. That’s why a daily probiotic is so valuable. This ecosystem of bacteria (known as the intestinal microbiota) live in your intestines and run the show, so probiotics are essential. When the balance is tipped toward “bad” bacteria due to many factors including lack of sleep, stress or other causes, it may affect your digestive health and overall well-being. However you need good nutrition to feed the good guys, and that’s why we work on nourishment before we beef up the little world in your digestive system. The product I recommend has a potency guarantee of at least 25 Billion CFUs per capsule and a shelf life of 2 years at room temperature, although I generally keep them in my fridge unless I am traveling.

Finally when you hit the Recover stage you will look at what your long term goals are, decide what you’ll continue with, and how to keep additional toxins and damage from happening to your body in the future. It’s not hard, but it is a process that focuses in on the best life for you, using the best products possible. That’s the thing you have to be ready for. This will not be an overnight, one pill and you’re done deal. Because even when you are given the one pill it could cause all sorts of problems as most of my pharma friends have figured out.

I recommend you start with a Wellness Consult and let’s see if we can get you started on Wellness today!
